Paul McDonald, Chief Campaigns Officer at Health Equals comments on the General Election results:

“In their manifesto, the Labour Party commits to halving the gap in healthy life expectancy between the richest and poorest regions in England and we look forward to working with them to ensure everyone has the best chance of good health no matter where you are born, work or live.

“Health inequalities are cutting thousands of lives short every year, but it doesn’t have to be this way. The NHS was never designed to go it alone: our health is shaped by the world around us. From the air we breathe to having access to health foods, stable jobs and good quality housing; these are the building blocks of health.”
